May 18th- Journal

Today we talked about history and fiction in film. I think a really good example is Goodbye Lenin! Although the film was fictional it had several historical clips, so I thought. Professor Antle told us that the clips were not actually real. They were also made up. I think that the combination works well because it gives a more emotional connection to the film because one can see the real implications the event had on the world. Alex's experience in designing the fake world for his mother would have still been comedic but not as important without the context of the fall of the Berlin wall.
